The MovieMate magnetic circular Black Mist 1/4 filter, is specially developed for the MovieMate Matte Box.
You place the MovieMate Black Mist 1/4 filter in the magnetic insert holder, which you slide into the Matte Box holder, in which you can also add other filters.
The magnetic round filters are stackable up to 3 pieces and are 95 mm.
Black Mist gives a special effect to your video, keeping the dark tones protected from this effect.
The filter appears to be normal clear glass, but when you look more carefully you see, that the glass is diffuse, containing small dark or black dots.
These dots maintain contrast while diffusing the high lights. The effect of the black fog filter is very small and is determined by the amount of high lights in your photo. If you have very even light, then you hardly notice it, but the more bright light sources you get in the picture, the more the effect becomes visible.
It's like a kind of haze that appears over the shots without affecting the sharpness of the photo. In addition, Kase filters have accurate IR coatings, which provide true neutral color within captured shots.
The filters are available in different gradations, with the 1/4 filter giving the strongest effect and 1/8 giving the least effect.
